An established and well-regarded planning and property consultancy is looking to appoint a Planner to join its growing London planning team. This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with 2–3 years’ professional experience who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive and commercially focused consultancy environment.
The team works across a broad mix of sectors including residential, commercial, retail, mixed-use and regeneration projects, advising a diverse client base ranging from developers and investors to landowners and public sector organisations. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a varied portfolio of projects and play an active role in supporting planning strategies from early-stage appraisals through to planning submissions and project delivery.
The Role
You will support senior members of the planning team while taking increasing responsibility for managing projects and client relationships. Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with and preparing planning appraisals, applications and supporting reports
- Undertaking planning policy research and site assessments
- Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals
- Liaising with local planning authorities, clients and external consultants
- Assisting in the coordination of multidisciplinary project teams
- Supporting the delivery of planning strategies across a range of development projects
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2–3 years’ experience within a planning consultancy, developer or local authority
- A relevant RTPI-accredited degree
- Progress towards MRTPI chartership (or working towards it)
- A solid understanding of the UK planning system and development process
- Strong report writing, research and communication skills
- A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and within a team
