An award-winning, independent planning and development consultancy is looking to recruit a Graduate Planner to join its Thames Valley team in 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated graduate to begin their career in a highly respected consultancy that works on some of the UK’s most significant and high-profile development projects. The successful candidate will gain early responsibility, exposure to major clients, and the opportunity to develop their professional skills within a collaborative and supportive environment.

The Opportunity

As a Graduate Planner, you will be part of a dynamic team advising clients across a diverse portfolio of development projects, including residential, commercial, mixed-use and strategic land developments.

From the outset, you will play an active role in supporting planning strategies and delivering high-quality consultancy advice.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Undertaking planning policy and site research
  • Assisting with planning appraisals and development strategies
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals
  • Contributing to planning statements, reports and supporting documents
  • Engaging with clients, local authorities and consultant teams
  • Assisting senior colleagues in the delivery of major development projects

This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience across the full planning process, helping shape development proposals from early concept through to planning consent.

Training & Development

You will join a structured graduate training programme designed to develop both your technical knowledge and professional skills. The consultancy is committed to supporting graduates through the process of becoming a Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Support includes:

  • A structured learning and development programme
  • Dedicated mentoring support
  • Exposure to a wide range of planning projects and sectors
  • Opportunities to develop strong client and professional networks

About You

Applicants should demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for planning and development.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent)
  • A Master’s degree in an RTPI or RICS accredited subject (completed or expected)
  • Strong research, analytical and report-writing skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A proactive, motivated approach and a passion for shaping the built environment

Applications are welcome from final-year students or graduates with up to one year of relevant experience.

What’s on Offer

  • Highly competitive graduate salary
  • Profit-sharing bonus scheme available to all staff
  • Structured training and career progression
  • A collaborative, supportive and inclusive working culture
  • Opportunities to work on major and nationally significant development projects
  • Flexible and balanced approach to working

The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
