Planning Consultant / Senior Planning Consultant
Location: Edinburgh
An ambitious and expanding planning consultancy is looking to appoint a Planning Consultant and Senior Planning Consultant to strengthen its growing Edinburgh team.

The Opportunity
You will work on a diverse portfolio of projects across residential, commercial, mixed-use, regeneration and strategic development schemes. The role offers responsibility, client exposure and the chance to work within a collaborative and commercially focused environment.
Depending on your level of experience, you will either:
- Support senior colleagues on complex planning applications and strategy work (Consultant level), or
- Take ownership of projects, manage client relationships and mentor junior staff (Senior Consultant level).
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals
- Undertaking site appraisals and planning strategy advice
- Drafting planning statements and supporting documents
- Liaising with local authorities, consultees and stakeholders
- Supporting or leading client meetings
- Contributing to business development initiatives
- Monitoring changes in Scottish planning policy and legislation
About You
Planning Consultant:
- Relevant degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- Working towards MRTPI (or recently chartered)
- Experience in consultancy or local authority
- Strong report writing and analytical skills
Senior Planning Consultant:
- MRTPI qualified
- Proven track record managing planning applications independently
- Strong understanding of the Scottish planning system
- Confident client-facing skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to manage projects to programme and budget
