Director – Town Planning

Location: Manchester or Leeds

An ambitious and growing planning consultancy is seeking an experienced Planning Director to establish and lead a brand-new office in either Manchester or Leeds.

This is a rare opportunity to take strategic ownership of a new regional presence, build a team around you, and shape the direction of the office from day one.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will take the lead in launching and developing a completely new office, driving client growth and establishing a strong regional reputation.

This role is ideally suited to a commercially minded planning professional who:

• Has an established client base and demonstrable fee-generation track record
• Is currently operating at Associate Director / Director level (or ready to step up)
• Has strong regional market knowledge within the Northwest or Yorkshire
• Is motivated by autonomy, leadership and long-term growth

You will have genuine influence over recruitment, strategy, service offering and market positioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Establishing and leading a new Manchester or Leeds office
• Bringing and growing an existing client portfolio
• Generating new business and expanding regional market presence
• Leading the delivery of major planning projects
• Providing strategic advice across residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes
• Building, mentoring and developing a high-performing team
• Contributing to wider business growth strategy

• MRTPI qualified
• Significant private-sector consultancy experience
• Strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial mindset
• Proven ability to win and retain work
• Established professional network in the region
• Ambition to build and lead a successful office

Remuneration

This is a commercially structured appointment.

The remuneration package will directly reflect the level of client following and fee income you are able to bring, with a highly competitive base salary and performance-linked incentives. Long-term progression opportunities will be available for the right individual.
