Associate Planning Director - Northampton

Location: Northampton (with travel to Manchester and sites as required)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

The Role

A market-leading logistics real estate developer is seeking an Associate Planning Director to play a pivotal role in the delivery of nationally significant logistics and industrial developments. This is a senior, hands-on role partnering closely with Development Directors and senior stakeholders across the full development lifecycle — from site identification and planning strategy through to consent, condition discharge and delivery.

You will work on some of the UK’s most strategically important logistics schemes, shaping critical infrastructure that supports business growth, supply chains and long-term economic resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing detailed planning appraisals and setting planning strategies, programmes and delivery timings
  • Promoting major logistics and industrial schemes through the planning process
  • Managing consultant teams and leading all planning aspects of projects
  • Preparing and overseeing Local Plan representations, planning applications and discharge of conditions
  • Reviewing site opportunities, policy designations, land supply and constraints to identify development potential
  • Attending site visits, Local Plan Examinations and public consultation events
  • Engaging with local authorities, communities and stakeholders to promote schemes effectively
  • Reviewing technical reports and coordinating timely feedback across project teams

About You

  • RTPI qualified with strong experience across the planning and development process
  • Proven track record managing your own projects in commercial property, development or planning environments
  • Strategic, resilient and commercially minded, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and consultant teams
  • Excellent report writing, organisation and time-management skills
  • Persuasive, professional and relationship-driven
  • Full UK driving licence

Candidates from a range of planning backgrounds are welcomed, particularly those keen to deepen their exposure to the development side and take on increasing responsibility alongside senior development leadership.

What We Offer

  • Competitive senior-level package with unlimited bonus potential
  • 29 days annual leave (including Christmas shutdown)
  • Employer pension contribution (6.2%)
  • Private medical cover, life assurance and annual health assessments
  • Strong learning, development and progression pathways
  • Opportunity to play a key role in a growing, highly respected development platform
  • Inclusive, collaborative culture with excellent rewards and recognition
