Senior Planner - Bristol

The Role
A dynamic, independent planning, design and development consultancy is expanding its team and seeking a Senior Planner to support its Directors and lead on planning work from early scheme development through to determination and appeals. You’ll work on a range of complex residential, energy, infrastructure and mixed-use projects, collaborating with clients, local authorities, and multi-disciplinary design teams to develop innovative planning strategies and secure successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage planning applications from inception to determination (and appeals where necessary).
- Work closely with Directors, clients, and consultant teams to develop effective planning strategies.
- Provide commercially focused advice and solutions tailored to project needs and policy contexts.
- Engage with local authorities, statutory consultees and stakeholders throughout the planning process.
- Prepare clear, high-quality planning documentation, representations and submissions.
- Contribute to project management and help maintain high professional standards across the practice.
About You
- Substantial experience in UK planning consultancy, local authority or development-side planning roles.
- Confident managing projects and contributing to planning strategy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong client-service approach.
- Understanding of relevant planning policy, legislation and consenting processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary project teams.
- RTPI membership or working towards chartership is preferred.
