Senior Planner (or above)
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
The Role
A leading multidisciplinary planning and environmental consultancy is expanding its Newcastle team and seeking a Senior Planner (or above) to support a diverse and growing project portfolio across the UK. You’ll work with clients from both the public and private sectors to provide expert planning advice and secure planning permissions on high-profile developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with clients to understand their planning objectives and guide them through the planning process.
- Lead and manage a varied range of planning projects.
- Prepare and submit planning applications in accordance with relevant regulations and policy.
- Engage with stakeholders, local authorities, and communities to advocate for project proposals.
- Support or manage Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) work and related assessments.
- Keep up to date with planning legislation, policy changes, and best practice.
About You
- Degree or equivalent qualification in town planning or a related discipline.
- At least 3+ years’ planning experience, ideally in consultancy or EIA management.
- Chartered Member of the RTPI preferred, or progressing towards chartered status.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Proactive, organised, and committed to high-quality planning outcomes.
- Experience mentoring junior staff and managing aspects of complex projects is desirable.
