Penguin Recruitment is working on behalf of a well established and growing planning consultancy to recruit a Senior Planner for their Castle Donington office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Planner to join a respected private consultancy with a strong regional presence, working on a diverse portfolio of planning projects across multiple development sectors. The role offers a high level of responsibility, autonomy, and the chance to play a key role in supporting clients through the planning process from early feasibility to determination and post-consent stages.
The Role
As a Senior Planner, you will take ownership of your own caseload while contributing to the wider success of the planning team. Key responsibilities will include:

Managing and delivering planning applications across a range of development types

Preparing planning statements, appeals, and pre-application submissions

Providing clear, commercially focused planning advice to clients

Undertaking site appraisals and planning policy assessments

Liaising with local authorities, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams

Supporting and mentoring junior planners as required
About You
To be successful in this Senior Planner role, you will ideally have:

A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline
-
MRTPI status or be working towards chartership
-
Several years’ experience within a consultancy or local authority environment

Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and development management
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
The ability to manage projects independently and work to deadlines
