Associate Planner – North West

🏙️ The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Associate Planner to join a growing planning team in a hybrid working setup. You’ll manage a range of planning schemes, advise clients directly, draft planning submissions and reports, and support the team in delivering projects from inception to completion. This senior role bridges project delivery and client engagement, with broad exposure across planning workstreams.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage medium to large-scale planning applications and projects.
• Provide expert planning advice to clients on sites and proposals.
• Undertake research, analysis and planning appraisals.
• Prepare planning reports, assessments and statutory submissions.
• Liaise with planning officers, consultees, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Develop creative, practical and policy-aligned solutions.
• Represent the team at external events and industry forums.

👤 About You

• Degree-qualified in a relevant planning discipline with a strong interest in the field.
• Significant experience (typically ~10+ years) in planning practice in the private and/or public sector.
• Deep understanding of UK planning policy, legislation and best practice.
• Excellent communicator with strong technical writing and presentation skills.
• Strategic thinker and confident problem-solver.
