Senior Planning Officer - Interim Opportunity
Location: Norfolk (Hybrid working available)
Contract: 6 - 9 months
Start Date: W/C 9th February 2026
Rate: £38 - £45 per hour (depending on experience)
About the Role:
A local authority in Norfolk is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a busy planning department and manage a varied caseload of applications.
About You:
You will bring significant experience at Senior level within Development Management, ideally 5+ years, and hold a planning qualification (Masters or equivalent) accredited by the RTPI. Chartered Membership is preferred. Experience with Green Belt applications is desired due to the nature of the councils caseload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and determine a range of planning applications.
- Provide professional advice to applicants, agents, and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with planning legislation and local policies.
- Support the delivery of high-quality development management services.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in development management within a local authority or similar setting.
- Ability to manage complex cases independently and meet statutory deadlines.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- RTPI membership (or eligibility) is desirable.
Working Arrangements:
- Hybrid working: typically 1-2 days per week in the office, with the remainder remote.
