Principal Planning Officer – Major Applications
Hertfordshire | Hybrid (1 day/week in office)
Start: September 2025
Contract: 3–6 months+
Rate: £50–£55/hour (Inside IR35)
My client, a prosperous local authority in Hertfordshire, is looking for an experienced Principal Planning Officer to lead on a range of major planning applications. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-profile developments while enjoying a flexible hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on major planning applications, including solar farm proposals, residential schemes and reserved matters applications
- Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with planning policy and legislation
- Prepare and present reports to planning committees
Requirements:
- Proven experience handling complex planning applications with an LPA setting
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation and policy
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- MRTPI preferred, but not essential
