I am currently working with a Local Authority in the South West region who are looking for a Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management team. This role offers the opportunity to handle complex and major applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing major and more complex minor applications, plus associated consents (discharge of conditions, non-material amendments, prior approvals, change of use, advert consents).
- Handling major housing, inward investment, and economic development proposals - including applications requiring EIA and Habitats Regulation Assessments.
- Providing pre-application advice, instructing and negotiating on legal agreements to secure mitigation and ensure compliance with planning policy and legislation.
- Presenting cases at Planning Committee and defending appeal decisions at written reps, hearings, and public inquiries.
- Managing a personal caseload of 35-50 applications within statutory determination periods (8/13 weeks), in line with Government performance targets.
Contract: 6 months
Rate: £48 an hour
Hours: Full-time (37 hours)
