I am currently working with a Local Authority in the South West looking for an experienced Area Planning Manager to join their planning team. You'll lead two Development Management area teams, oversee major and complex planning applications, and support Members in delivering high-quality decisions that meet corporate priorities around climate change, affordable housing, and placemaking.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and mentoring planning teams (Principal to Graduate/Apprentice level).
- Leading on major/complex applications from pre-app through to compliance.
- Acting as lead officer at Area Planning Committees.
- Deputising for senior managers and advising Members.
- Representing the Council at appeals, hearings, and inquiries.
- Attend the Office's 2 days a week.
Contract: 6 months
Rate: £83/hour
