About the Role: We are representing a leading UK planning consultancy in their search for a Planner or Senior Planner to join their established and growing team based in Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated planning professional to be part of a highly respected team delivering a wide range of high-profile and impactful projects across Wales and the UK.

You'll play an integral role in managing your own workload, contributing to the delivery of complex planning submissions, and supporting senior colleagues with client advisory and business development activities. Whether you're recently chartered or looking to step up into a more senior position, this is a superb platform for professional growth.

The Team: You'll be joining a Cardiff-based team of 17 planning professionals, part of the UK's largest planning consultancy with nearly 200 specialists nationwide. The team is client-focused and handles a healthy blend of local, regional, and national projects. Their collaborative working style spans multiple property sectors, including residential, commercial, energy, education, and regeneration.

Notable ongoing projects include:

Stok Cae Ras stadium and academy development for Wrexham AFC

Indurent Park development in Newport

Twyn Hywel Energy Park planning discharge

LDP-led land development for Bridgend College in Pencoed

Major mixed-use regeneration in Cardiff Bay

Carbon Capture & Storage project in North Wales

The planning team works closely with in-house experts across Development, Commercial Investment, New Homes, Energy & Sustainability, and Property Management, offering a dynamic and integrated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage your own caseload and support senior fee earners on a wide range of planning matters

Undertake planning research and site appraisals

Prepare high-quality reports and submissions (site assessments, policy notes, planning applications, appeals, and more)

Contribute to business development activities and represent the team externally

What We're Looking For:

MRTPI and/or MRICS qualified (ideally with 2-5 years' post-qualification experience)

In-depth understanding of the UK town planning system

Excellent written communication and analytical skills - able to construct clear, compelling planning arguments

A collaborative mindset and a proactive, solutions-focused attitude

Confidence working with clients and other stakeholders
