Winchester City Council has an exciting career opportunity within its Enforcement Department to strengthen our busy Enforcement team. We are seeking an ambitious individual to help deal with the most interesting and complex Major projects and Breaches of planning to shape and protect our charming historic towns, villages and countryside. Our Emerging Plan is nearing adoption and our new Local Enforcement Plan has just been endorsed by Members and so we are looking for an officer to help deliver improvements to our service.

The successful candidate will ideally have a few years of experience in a Local Authority based Enforcement role and have experience of a variety of development types, negotiating to remedy, serving Enforcement Notices and giving evidence.

We welcome applications from those with experience, to those with limited experience, as what is important to us is getting the right fit to work proactively and adaptably, guide those who inadvertently breach planning rules and to enforce against those developments which damage the area. The right candidate will have an understanding of what it means to collaborate and engage effectively with a customer and our community stakeholders.

Join the new Service Lead: Built Environment to work together in a high performing team environment to deliver robust enforcement, and efficient management and closure of cases.

Our offices are based in the heart of Winchester’s Historic Cathedral Town and the successful candidates will also benefit from a hybrid working pattern, free parking at any Winchester Park and Ride, essential car user allowance and paid Membership fees to the RTPI along with a range of other benefits including UK Healthcare Health Plan, generous contributory Local Government pension, discounted bus travel and public transport loans, volunteering opportunities, flexible working arrangements, a cycle scheme, and career opportunities working across the department.

If you are interested in working for Winchester City Council please contact Julie Pinnock for informal chat about the roles available 01962 848 439.
