Carrington West are currently recruiting for an experienced Planning Policy Team Leader to join a local planning authority in Leicestershire on a 6-month contract.
Working within Planning Policy, you will lead and manage the Local Plans team, supporting the Group Leader on the preparation and review of statutory development plans and leading on major, strategic and complex policy matters.
Key Responsibilities:
·Support the Group Leader in preparing and reviewing statutory development plans, policies and guidance, leading on major, strategic and complex planning issues.
·Manage and supervise the Local Plans team, identifying training needs and supporting staff development.
·Coordinate policy implementation through planning application advice, pre-application engagement and project management.
·Prepare responses to plans, guidance and consultations from internal departments, neighbouring authorities, government and other organisations.
·Prepare and present reports on development plans and policy matters to committees and project boards.
·Prepare evidence and act as an expert witness at examinations, inquiries and hearings.
Liaise with internal departments, local councils and external organisations, attending meetings and public events as required.
·Oversee monitoring, research and information systems to support statutory reporting, and appoint and manage consultants where required.
This is a full-time contract role offering competitive hourly rates and the opportunity to lead a key policy team within a local planning authority.
