We are currently looking for an experienced Tree Officer to join a Local Authority team in Surrey on an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable arboricultural professional to support the council's tree protection and planning functions.
Key responsibilities:
- Assessing and processing Tree Preservation Order (TPO) applications.
- Reviewing applications for tree works and providing technical recommendations.
- Advising on trees within Conservation Areas.
- Assessing the impact of proposed developments on trees.
- Providing professional arboricultural advice to planning officers and other stakeholders.
- Undertaking site inspections and preparing technical reports.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant tree protection legislation and planning policies.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as a Tree Officer within a Local Authority.
- Strong knowledge of TPO legislation and Conservation Area controls.
- Experience assessing tree works applications and providing planning advice.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- A relevant arboricultural qualification.
