The town planning team has grown significantly and is now one of the largest in the city, delivering a full range of planning services to both private and public sector clients. Responsibilities for the Graduate Town Planner:
- Support the team in delivering a wide range of projects, assisting with planning advice, applications and appeals
- Research and analyse planning policy
- Prepare planning appraisals and strategy reports
- Prepare and submit applications via the Planning Portal
- Monitor and negotiate applications post-submission, attending meetings as required
- Prepare planning appeals
- Prepare representations to emerging planning policy and local plans
- Attend networking events to build and grow client relationships
Requirements:
- Relevant planning degree or equivalent
- Understanding of the UK planning system
- Fluency in Microsoft packages and other IT packages relevant to the role
- Strong research, analytical and report-writing skills
- Commercially minded, self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Resilient under pressure, with excellent prioritisation, time management, negotiation and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive, positive and professional, with a “can do” attitude
