Principal Planning Officer – Major Sites

Cambridge | 12-Month Contract | £50–£60 per hour | Mostly Remote

I’m currently looking to speak with experienced Principal Planning Officers for an exciting 12-month contract opportunity in Cambridge, focusing on a portfolio of major development sites.

With an excellent hourly rate and predominantly remote working, this is a great opportunity for an experienced Development Management professional looking for their next contract.

The Role

Manage and determine major planning applications and complex development proposals.
Lead on significant development sites, providing expert planning advice and recommendations.
Work closely with developers, agents, consultees and other key stakeholders.
Prepare high-quality reports and present applications to planning committees where required.
Support the delivery of strategic development and wider planning objectives.

What I’m Looking For

Strong experience in Development Management, ideally within a local authority.
A proven track record of managing major applications and complex planning schemes.
Excellent knowledge of UK planning legislation, policy and procedures.
Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and report-writing skills.
The ability to manage a varied caseload independently.

Contract Details

Location: Cambridge
Duration: 12 months
Rate: £50–£60 per hour
Working pattern: Mostly remote
Estimated monthly take-home: £4,800–£5,600, subject to tax status, working hours and individual deductions.
