Key responsibilities of the Graduate Town Planner:
- Helping to prepare and submit planning applications
- Providing support on planning appraisals and assessments of development potential
- Carrying out planning policy research and reviewing local planning documents
- Contributing to the drafting of planning statements, reports and representations
- Assisting senior colleagues on planning appeals and enforcement cases
- Helping to prepare representations on development plans and Local Plans
- Communicating with local planning authorities and other professional consultants
- Visiting sites and collecting information to inform planning advice
- Tracking planning applications and moving projects through the planning process
Requirements of the Graduate Town Planner:
- An RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning or a closely related subject
- A real interest in the UK planning system and the development sector
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid research and analytical skills
- Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail
- The ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- A positive, proactive and practical attitude to solving problems
- Confidence working as part of a team while taking ownership of your own workload
- A commitment to learning and developing professionally
