The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage their own projects, build strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will take responsibility for managing a varied caseload of planning projects, providing strategic planning advice and supporting clients throughout the development process. You will work closely with colleagues and external stakeholders to deliver commercially focused planning solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and coordinating planning applications from initial feasibility through to submission and determination.
  • Preparing and reviewing planning statements, appeal documents, planning appraisals and supporting reports.
  • Providing professional advice on planning policy, development management and planning strategy.
  • Managing client relationships and liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and other key stakeholders.
  • Undertaking site appraisals and identifying planning opportunities and potential constraints.
  • Supporting the delivery of complex planning projects and advising clients on the best approach to achieving planning permission.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior members of the team where appropriate.
  • Contributing to business development activities and helping to strengthen the consultancy's client base.

About You

The successful Senior Town Planner will ideally have:

  • A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience within a planning consultancy or local authority environment.
  • MRTPI chartership, or a strong commitment towards achieving it.
  • A strong understanding of UK planning legislation, policy and development management.
  • Experience managing planning applications and delivering projects independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to advise clients and engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • A commercial mindset, a proactive approach and an interest in contributing to the wider success of the business.

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Town Planner to join an established consultancy offering a varied project portfolio, a collaborative working environment and scope for further professional development.

The position would suit an ambitious planner looking to take greater ownership of projects, strengthen client relationships and play an important role in delivering successful planning outcomes across the region.
