Planning Officer – Lancashire
Location: Lancashire
Contract: 3-month rolling contract
Rate: £35–£45 per hour (approx. £3600-4500 take home per month)
Working Pattern: Hybrid – weekly office attendance required
We are currently seeking an experienced Planning Officer to join a local authority in Lancashire on an initial 3-month rolling contract, with the opportunity for extension.
The successful candidate will manage a mixed planning caseload, dealing with a range of applications and planning matters from submission through to decision.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a varied caseload of planning applications.

Assess planning applications against relevant policies, legislation and material considerations.

Prepare clear and well-reasoned reports and recommendations.

Liaise with applicants, agents, consultees, councillors and other stakeholders.

Undertake site visits and attend meetings where required.

Provide professional planning advice to internal and external stakeholders.

Ensure applications are progressed efficiently and within relevant timescales.
About You
We are looking for a Planning Officer with:

Previous experience working within a local authority planning environment.

Experience managing a mixed caseload of planning applications.

Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and relevant legislation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
