Duties for the role of Senior Town Planner:
- Providing strategic and detailed planning advice to clients and project teams
- Undertaking planning appraisals and identifying development opportunities and constraints
- Developing and implementing planning strategies for a range of development projects
- Managing the preparation and submission of planning applications, including full, outline and hybrid applications
- Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants
- Liaising and negotiating with local planning authorities and other stakeholders
- Managing planning conditions, amendments, variations and related submissions
- Supporting and, where appropriate, leading planning appeals
- Advising on Section 106 agreements and associated planning obligations
- Preparing representations in relation to development plans and emerging planning policy
- Supporting the promotion of sites through the plan-making process
Requirements for the role of Senior Town Planner:
- Relevant RTPI Accredited degree within Town Planning or another related discipline
- Chartered or working towards RTPI membership
- Significant experience within a planning consultancy, developer, architectural practice or related environment
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and development management process
- Experience managing planning applications from inception through to determination
- Experience across commercial, industrial, logistics, employment or mixed-use development would be advantageous
- The ability to develop clear and commercially realistic planning strategies
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external consultants
- Confidence dealing with local planning authorities and other stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and project management abilities
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team
- A commercially minded approach and an understanding of clients' development objectives
