Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are seeking to recruit a Planning Strategy Officer (Career Grade) to join our Planning Strategy Team and to play an important role in the development of our new Local Plan.
The role is a career grade role and we will welcome applications from candidates at all levels of the grade, who are looking for an opportunity to develop their planning experience or advance their career.
You will play a vital role in delivering a sound and sustainable Local Plan and, depending on your level within the career grade structure, you will:

Contribute to, or lead on, the preparation, monitoring, review and implementation of a robust Local Plan for Redcar and Cleveland.

Provide specialist professional input into the development of planning policy, and in respect of other statutory and non-statutory planning and related activity.

Provide specialist planning policy advice to support the development management process, including contributing to the preparation of appeal statements and representing the Council at appeal inquiries and hearings.

Contribute to corporate initiatives, particularly in pursuit of sustainability and economic growth. Successful candidates will have planning experience and/or a recognised qualification in planning, and knowledge of national planning policy and planning legislation. You will have strong oral and written communication skills, will be confident in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and be skilled at negotiating, influencing, and problem-solving.
