About the Role
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Conservation Officer to support a busy Planning and Historic Environment Team, providing additional capacity across planning and listed building applications and delivering specialist heritage advice.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assess planning and listed building consent applications
· Provide specialist conservation and heritage advice on planning proposals
· Respond to pre-application planning enquiries
· Undertake site visits and prepare reports and recommendations
· Support conservation area, heritage policy and Buildings at Risk work
· Liaise with Historic England, applicants and key planning stakeholders
Requirements:
· Relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in conservation, historic environment, planning, architecture or a related discipline
· Experience working as a Conservation Officer or in a similar planning/historic environment role
· Strong knowledge of listed buildings, conservation areas, the NPPF and Historic England guidance
· Experience assessing heritage proposals and preparing written planning recommendations
· Excellent communication and report-writing skills
· Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
