Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading independent planning consultancy in the appointment of a Senior Town Planner to join their growing Cardiff team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to join a collaborative and ambitious consultancy, working on a diverse range of projects across the UK while taking on meaningful responsibility and developing their career.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will:

  • Manage a range of planning projects across different sectors.
  • Prepare, submit and manage planning applications through to determination.
  • Provide clear and commercially focused planning advice to clients.
  • Undertake planning research and provide strategic planning advice.
  • Liaise with local planning authorities, clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
  • Manage project deadlines, priorities and competing demands.
  • Support business development and contribute to growing the Cardiff team.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team with their professional development.
  • Build and maintain strong client and professional relationships.
  • Contribute to the continued success and growth of the wider business.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Senior Planner who is:

  • RTPI qualified, with MRTPI achieved or working towards chartership.
  • Experienced across a range of planning sectors and development types.
  • Experienced in preparing, submitting and managing planning applications.
  • Confident providing planning advice to clients and managing projects.
  • Commercially aware with a strong understanding of the planning system.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator.
  • Comfortable mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.
  • A strong team player who wants to contribute to the growth of a successful Cardiff office.
  • Competent using Microsoft 365.
