Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a growing and ambitious planning consultancy in the appointment of a Planner / Senior Planner to join their team in Cheltenham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated planning professional to join a well-established but compact consultancy, working across a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK. The consultancy provides specialist planning services across areas including planning and regeneration, research, community engagement, strategy and policy development.
The team works on a varied range of projects, including large-scale residential and commercial developments, urban extensions, eco towns, rural estates and other complex development schemes.
The Role
As a Planner / Senior Planner, you will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of interesting and challenging projects, with responsibilities including:
- Assisting senior colleagues with the coordination and preparation of large-scale and complex mixed-use residential and commercial planning applications
• Managing your own projects, including pre-application enquiries, planning applications, Listed Building Consent applications and planning appeals
• Supporting colleagues on larger strategic planning projects
• Liaising with clients, local authorities, consultants and other stakeholders
• Developing your technical planning knowledge and professional experience
• Working closely with senior team members as part of a supportive and collaborative environment
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- 2–3 years' experience within the planning profession
• A good understanding of the UK planning system
• A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline, ideally RTPI accredited
• Working towards or having achieved RTPI Chartership
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive approach and strong work ethic
• A full UK driving licence
• A genuine desire to develop their career within a small, ambitious and growing consultancy
