Associate Director - Town Planning

Are you an experienced Associate Director or a Senior Planning professional ready to step into an Associate Director position? We're working with a leading multidisciplinary consultancy seeking an ambitious Associate Director to join its expanding London team.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an Associate Director to play a key role in delivering some of the UK's most significant infrastructure, regeneration and development projects while leading multidisciplinary teams, developing client relationships and helping shape the future of sustainable communities.
The Role
As an Associate Director, you'll lead planning and consenting strategies across a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure and development projects. Working alongside environmental, engineering and design specialists, you'll manage complex planning applications, oversee project delivery and support the continued growth of the planning business.
This is a client-facing leadership role offering excellent career progression, the opportunity to mentor and develop colleagues, and the chance to influence high-profile projects across transport, energy, water, residential and public sector developments.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead planning projects across a range of sectors and markets.
·Act as Planning Lead on major infrastructure and development schemes.
·Manage multidisciplinary project teams from inception through to delivery.
·Lead bid preparation, tender submissions and framework responses.
·Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying new business opportunities.
·Coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and wider environmental planning work.
·Provide project management, commercial oversight and resource planning.
·Mentor and support junior planners and contribute to the development of the wider planning team.
About You
To succeed as an Associate Director, you'll be an experienced planning professional with a strong background in delivering major infrastructure or complex development projects.
You'll ideally have:
·A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
·RTPI Chartered Membership (or working towards).
·Significant experience delivering major planning applications under the TCPA.
·Experience working on nationally significant infrastructure projects, including DCO, Hybrid Bill, Highways Act or TWAO schemes.
·Strong knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and planning legislation.
·Experience in strategic planning and planning policy.
·Excellent project management and commercial awareness.
·Proven ability to win work and develop long-term client relationships.
