We are currently supporting a Local Authority seeking an experienced Validation / Technical Support Officer to provide specialist administrative and technical support within their Planning and Development Management function.

This role requires an individual who can hit the ground running, confidently managing the validation and registration of planning applications while operating within a busy local authority environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring applications are processed efficiently and accurately, supporting planning officers and helping to maintain service performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate a wide range of planning applications, ensuring all submissions meet national and local validation requirements
  • Register planning applications and associated documentation accurately within the planning system
  • Assess plans, supporting statements, and accompanying documents for completeness and compliance
  • Liaise with applicants, agents, consultees, and internal departments regarding validation requirements and application processes
  • Provide technical and administrative support to Development Management teams
  • Manage application correspondence, consultations, and statutory notifications
  • Maintain accurate planning records and ensure information is updated within relevant systems
  • Support the delivery of performance targets and statutory deadlines across the planning service

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience within a Planning Validation, Technical Support, or Development Management administration role
  • Strong understanding of the planning application process within a UK Local Authority environment
  • Experience validating planning applications and working with planning management systems
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret planning documentation accurately
  • Effective communication skills and confidence liaising with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fully remote environment

Working Arrangements

  • £22–£30 per hour
  • 6-month rolling contract
  • Fully remote working
  • Immediate start available
