Senior Planning Policy Officer
Lancashire | 6-Month Contract | Hybrid (1 Day Per Month in the Office) | £45–£55 per Hour
We're working with a Local Authority in Lancashire to recruit an experienced Senior Planning Policy Officer to support the delivery of its Local Plan on an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping planning policy while enjoying a highly flexible hybrid working arrangement, with just one day per month required in the office.
The Role
- Support the preparation, progression and delivery of the Local Plan.
- Produce and review planning policy documents, evidence base studies and consultation material.
- Assess consultation responses and prepare reports for Members and senior management.
- Liaise with internal teams, external stakeholders and consultants.
- Provide expert planning policy advice in line with current planning legislation and national policy.
Requirements
- Previous experience working within a UK Local Planning Authority in a Planning Policy role.
- Strong understanding of the Local Plan process and UK planning legislation.
- Experience preparing or contributing to Local Plans.
- Excellent report-writing, analytical and communication skills.
- MRTPI qualification is desirable but not essential.

- Approximate take-home pay of £4,400–£5,200 per month (depending on hours worked and individual tax circumstances)
