Associate Planner – Renewables & Infrastructure | Edinburgh | Hybrid Working

Ready to take the next step in your planning career?

I'm currently working with a highly regarded planning consultancy that is looking to appoint an Associate Planner to join its growing team in Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced planner with a strong background in renewable energy and infrastructure projects to play a key role in delivering major developments across Great Britain.

This position offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects while taking on greater responsibility, including mentoring and managing junior team members.

The Role

As an Associate Planner, you'll:

  • Lead and manage planning projects across the renewables and infrastructure sectors.
  • Advise clients on planning strategy and the consenting process.
  • Work on projects throughout Scotland and England, navigating both planning systems.
  • Manage applications and consents, including Section 36Section 37, and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Manage and support a planning consultant, providing guidance and mentoring.

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • Around 7–10 years' experience in Town Planning.
  • Strong experience delivering renewable energy and/or EIA projects.
  • A solid understanding of the Scottish planning system, with experience across England also highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Section 36Section 37, and/or NSIP consenting processes.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior planners would be advantageous.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Hybrid working, with 2–3 days per week in the Edinburgh office.
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile renewable energy and infrastructure projects across Great Britain.
  • Clear opportunities for career progression within a supportive and collaborative consultancy.
  • Ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities.

If you're looking to take on a senior role within a respected consultancy and play a key part in delivering major renewable energy projects, I'd be delighted to tell you more.
