I'm currently working with a well-established planning and development consultancy in Newcastle that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Town Planner to join its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planner who enjoys working on diverse and high-profile projects across residential, commercial, mixed-use, energy, and strategic land developments. You'll be joining a collaborative team with a strong pipeline of work, genuine career progression, and the autonomy to make an impact.
The Role
As a Senior Town Planner, you'll manage your own portfolio of planning projects while supporting junior team members and working closely with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams.
Working pattern: This is a hybrid position, with 3 days per week in the Newcastle office and 2 days working from home, offering the perfect balance between collaboration and flexibility.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing planning applications and appeals from inception through to determination.
- Preparing planning statements, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Providing strategic planning advice to a broad client base.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Liaising with local authorities, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Mentoring and supporting junior planners.
- Contributing to business development and identifying new opportunities.
About You
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- MRTPI qualified (or working towards chartership if you're close to qualifying).
- Previous experience within a consultancy or local authority planning environment.
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A proactive, commercially minded approach with excellent client-facing skills.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.
