Senior Town Planner
Location: Shrewsbury (Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: Negotiable + Excellent Benefits
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a well-established and growing planning consultancy based near Shrewsbury. This is an exciting role for a commercially minded Senior Town Planner looking to manage a varied portfolio of planning projects while working alongside a highly experienced team of planning professionals.

You will take ownership of planning cases from initial instruction through to determination, providing expert planning advice to a diverse client base and representing clients throughout the planning process.

The Role
The successful Senior Town Planner will be responsible for:
·Managing a varied caseload of planning applications from appointment through to determination.
·Assessing new planning enquiries and advising on planning strategy.
·Researching planning history, planning policy and site constraints.
·Undertaking site visits and preparing planning appraisals.
·Preparing fee proposals and quotations.
·Producing high-quality planning statements, supporting documents, Certificates of Lawfulness and appeal submissions.
·Liaising and negotiating with Local Planning Authorities, consultees and other stakeholders.
·Monitoring planning applications and keeping clients informed throughout the process.
·Representing clients at meetings, hearings and planning-related events.
 
About You
Essential
·Postgraduate qualification from an RTPI-accredited planning course.
·Chartered Membership of the RTPI (desirable).
·Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
·Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports.
·Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
·Confident communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
·Experience representing planning cases at appeal.
·Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following:
oCertificates of Lawfulness
oPlanning Enforcement
oLand Use Planning, including Gypsy and Traveller applications

Working Hours
·Monday to Friday
·9:00am - 5:30pm
·One-hour lunch break

Some occasional out-of-hours working may be required, with time off in lieu provided.
