Interim Conservation Officer (6-Month Contract)
£45–£55 per hour | Approx. £4,400–£5,200 take-home per month*

We're currently seeking an experienced Conservation Officer to join a well-established local authority on an initial 6-month interim contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planning and heritage professional looking to work on a varied caseload of listed buildings, conservation areas, and heritage assets, while enjoying the flexibility and earning potential of an interim position.
The Role
You'll be responsible for:
- Assessing applications affecting listed buildings and conservation areas.
- Providing specialist heritage advice to planning officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
- Preparing reports and recommendations in line with planning legislation and national policy.
- Managing a diverse caseload of heritage and conservation applications.
- Working collaboratively with internal teams and external consultees to help protect and enhance the historic environment.
About You
We're looking for candidates with:
- Previous experience working as a Conservation Officer within a UK local authority.
- Strong knowledge of listed buildings, conservation areas, and heritage legislation.
- Experience preparing delegated reports and advising on planning applications.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
