Lead the Future of Planning

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planning Director to lead and grow an established planning team within a highly respected multidisciplinary consultancy. This is a senior leadership position offering the chance to shape the future of a successful regional office while working on a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects across the North of England.

Working alongside specialists in urban design, architecture, transport, sustainability and research, you'll play a key role in delivering complex planning projects while driving business growth and developing the next generation of planning professionals.

The Role

As Planning Director, you will:

  • Lead and grow an established planning team.
  • Manage major planning applications, planning appeals and strategic planning projects.
  • Lead work on Local Plans, site promotion, examinations and public inquiries.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop planners across all experience levels.
  • Manage office performance, financial planning and profitability.
  • Contribute to wider business strategy as part of the senior leadership team.
  • Represent the business at networking events and across the planning industry.

  • Urban regeneration
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Education
  • Renewable energy and solar projects
  • Enforcement matters

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • MRTPI status.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Around 10+ years' professional planning experience.
  • A strong background within private consultancy, or a combination of consultancy, public sector and client-side experience.
  • Proven experience leading planning projects and managing teams.
  • A successful track record in business development and client relationship management.
  • Strong commercial awareness and leadership skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.
