Essex | Hybrid Working
6-Month Contract
£40–£45 per hour (Approx. £4,000–£4,500 take-home per month, depending on hours worked and individual tax circumstances.)

We're working with a well-established local authority in Essex that is looking to appoint an experienced Planning Officer to support the Development Management team on an initial 6-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive planning team and manage a varied caseload, with a particular focus on Green Belt applications.

The Role

  • Manage a caseload of planning applications, including those affecting the Green Belt.
  • Assess proposals against national and local planning policy.
  • Prepare delegated reports and recommendations.
  • Liaise with applicants, agents, consultees and members of the public.
  • Attend site visits and committee meetings where required.

About You

  • Previous experience working as a Planning Officer within a UK local authority.
  • Strong knowledge of Development Management and Green Belt policy.
  • Confident managing a planning caseload independently.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • MRTPI membership is desirable but not essential.

What's on Offer?

  • £40–£45 per hour
  • Initial 6-month contract with the potential for extension.
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Approximate take-home pay of £4,000–£4,500 per month (depending on hours worked and individual tax circumstances).
  • Friendly, collaborative team and an interesting Green Belt-focused caseload.

If you're an experienced Planning Officer looking for your next contract opportunity in Essex, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
