Planning Officer – Green Belt Caseload

6-Month Contract
£40–£45 per hour (Approx. £4,000–£4,500 take-home per month, depending on hours worked and individual tax circumstances.)
We're working with a well-established local authority in Essex that is looking to appoint an experienced Planning Officer to support the Development Management team on an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive planning team and manage a varied caseload, with a particular focus on Green Belt applications.
The Role
- Manage a caseload of planning applications, including those affecting the Green Belt.
- Assess proposals against national and local planning policy.
- Prepare delegated reports and recommendations.
- Liaise with applicants, agents, consultees and members of the public.
- Attend site visits and committee meetings where required.
About You
- Previous experience working as a Planning Officer within a UK local authority.
- Strong knowledge of Development Management and Green Belt policy.
- Confident managing a planning caseload independently.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- MRTPI membership is desirable but not essential.
