Are you an ambitious Assistant Town Planner looking to take the next step in your career? We're working with a well-established planning consultancy in Milton Keynes that is looking to expand its talented team with the addition of a motivated and enthusiastic planner.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use and strategic development projects while receiving ongoing support and professional development towards achieving your career goals.

The Role

As an Assistant Town Planner, you'll support senior planners in delivering planning advice and managing projects from inception through to completion. You'll gain valuable exposure to a wide variety of planning applications and appeals, working closely with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications.
  • Conducting planning policy research and site appraisals.
  • Preparing planning statements and supporting documentation.
  • Liaising with local authorities, consultees and clients.
  • Supporting planning appeals and representations.
  • Monitoring planning policy updates and legislative changes.
  • Attending site visits, client meetings and public consultations where required.

About You

We're keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or property environment (placement or graduate experience considered).
  • A good understanding of the UK planning system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for planning.
  • Eligibility to work towards or already be working towards MRTPI accreditation.
