A Surrey/Sussex-based Local Planning Authority is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Planning Officer to join their Development Management team on an initial 6-month rolling contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied caseload of major applications within a well-established and supportive planning team. The authority is dealing with a number of high-profile schemes, making this an ideal role for an experienced planner looking for an interesting and challenging contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a caseload of major planning applications from submission through to determination.
  • Preparing officer reports and presenting recommendations where required.
  • Liaising with developers, consultees, stakeholders and elected members.
  • Providing professional planning advice on complex development proposals.
  • Supporting the wider Development Management function.

Essential Experience:

  • Previous Local Authority Development Management experience.
  • Experience handling major planning applications.
  • Strong report-writing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and hit the ground running.

Desirable Experience:

  • Green Belt planning experience.
  • Previous experience operating at Senior or Principal Planning Officer level.
