A Surrey/Sussex-based Local Planning Authority is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Planning Officer to join their Development Management team on an initial 6-month rolling contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied caseload of major applications within a well-established and supportive planning team. The authority is dealing with a number of high-profile schemes, making this an ideal role for an experienced planner looking for an interesting and challenging contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a caseload of major planning applications from submission through to determination.
- Preparing officer reports and presenting recommendations where required.
- Liaising with developers, consultees, stakeholders and elected members.
- Providing professional planning advice on complex development proposals.
- Supporting the wider Development Management function.
Essential Experience:
- Previous Local Authority Development Management experience.
- Experience handling major planning applications.
- Strong report-writing and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and hit the ground running.
Desirable Experience:
- Green Belt planning experience.
- Previous experience operating at Senior or Principal Planning Officer level.
