Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading national property consultancy in their search for a Senior Planner to join their Reading team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced planner to join one of the UK’s most respected planning consultancies, working across a diverse portfolio of residential, mixed-use, commercial, rural, and strategic land projects. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and highly regarded team, gaining exposure to high-profile developments and a broad client base across the region.


THE ROLE

As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in delivering planning projects from initial appraisal through to submission, negotiation, and determination.

You will manage your own caseload of projects while supporting senior colleagues on larger and more complex developments. The role offers excellent exposure to client management, strategic planning work, and business development within a market-leading consultancy environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Managing planning applications and appeals across a range of development sectors
• Preparing and reviewing high-quality planning reports and supporting documentation
• Providing strategic planning advice to clients
• Undertaking site appraisals and development feasibility assessments
• Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, stakeholders, and consultant teams
• Attending client meetings, committee meetings, consultations, and site visits
• Supporting junior team members where appropriate
• Contributing to business development and networking activities


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
• MRTPI qualified
• Experience within a planning consultancy or similar private sector environment
• Strong understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy
• Excellent written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills
• Strong organisational and project management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
