Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead within our Development Management Service, shaping the delivery of high-quality development across the borough. From major regeneration schemes to housing and employment growth, you’ll have a direct impact on how Rotherham looks and feels for future generations.

About the Role

As Development Manager, you will:

  • ·         Lead and manage a team of planning professionals dealing with a wide range of planning applications
  • ·         Oversee the delivery of a high-performing Development Management Service, ensuring timely and robust decision-making
  • ·         Play a key role in enabling major regeneration and investment projects, working collaboratively with developers and stakeholders
  • ·         Provide expert advice to elected members, including presenting applications at Planning Board
  • ·         Drive service improvements, innovation and a positive customer-focused culture
  • ·         Ensure development proposals align with local and national planning policy, supporting sustainable growth.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • ·         Has strong experience in Development Management within a local authority or similar environment
  • ·         Demonstrates confident leadership and experience of managing and motivating teams
  • ·         Has an in depth understanding of planning legislation, policy and development processes
  • ·         Is comfortable handling complex and high-profile applications
  • ·         Possesses excellent communication skills and political awareness
  • ·         Is passionate about delivering high-quality places and supporting regeneration.
