Senior Town Planner | Newcastle | £45,000 - £65,000 + Benefits
I'm currently partnering with a highly regarded planning consultancy in Newcastle that is looking to appoint a Senior Town Planner to support the continued growth of its North East team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner who is looking to take on greater responsibility, manage complex projects, and play a key role in business development and client management. You'll join a collaborative team working across a diverse range of residential, commercial, industrial, renewable energy, and strategic land projects.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Town Planner, you'll lead planning projects from inception through to determination, provide strategic advice to clients, and mentor junior members of the team.
This role offers the chance to work on high-profile developments across the North East while contributing to the long-term success of a respected and growing planning practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals.
- Providing strategic planning advice to a broad client base.
- Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor.
- Preparing planning statements, representations, and appeal documentation.
- Liaising with local authorities, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Monitoring planning policy changes and advising clients accordingly.
- Supporting business development activities and identifying new opportunities.
- Mentoring and supporting junior planners within the team.
About You
I'm keen to speak with candidates who have:
- MRTPI status or are eligible for chartership.
- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within a planning consultancy, developer, or local authority environment.
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning legislation.
- Experience managing complex planning applications and projects.
- Excellent report-writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to build strong client relationships.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
