Senior Planner / Associate Planner

📍 Wilmslow, Cheshire

An established and growing planning and environmental consultancy is seeking experienced Senior and Associate Planners to join its team in Wilmslow. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK, within a collaborative and supportive environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will manage a range of planning and environmental projects, taking responsibility for project delivery, client management, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams. The role offers the opportunity to take a leading position on projects while contributing to business growth and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage planning and EIA projects from inception through to delivery
  • Prepare and coordinate planning applications, screening and scoping requests, Environmental Impact Assessments, and supporting reports
  • Liaise directly with clients and act as a key point of contact throughout project delivery
  • Coordinate internal and external consultant teams to ensure programmes and deadlines are achieved
  • Review and quality assure technical work produced by junior staff
  • Support business development activities including fee proposals, tenders, and networking opportunities
  • Mentor and support junior planners and graduates
  • Engage with local authorities, statutory consultees, and wider stakeholders

About You

  • MRTPI qualified
  • Strong experience within planning consultancy or a similar environment
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience for Senior Planner level
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience for Associate level
  • Proven experience leading projects and managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong understanding of planning application procedures and EIA processes
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
