An established and award-winning planning consultancy based in Winchester is looking to appoint an ambitious Associate Town Planner to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an MRTPI-qualified planner with at least five years’ post-qualification experience to take ownership of a varied and high-quality caseload across residential, commercial, mixed-use and strategic development projects.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing planning projects from inception through to determination
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, prior approvals and appeals
  • Drafting planning statements, site appraisals and technical planning reports
  • Leading pre-application discussions with local authorities and stakeholders
  • Advising clients on planning strategy and development opportunities
  • Coordinating consultant teams and managing project delivery
  • Preparing and presenting planning appeals
  • Attending hearings, inquiries, client meetings and site visits
  • Supporting business development activities and networking opportunities
  • Mentoring junior members of the team

About You

Applicants should have:

  • MRTPI membership
  • A minimum of five years’ post-qualification planning experience
  • Strong experience managing planning applications and appeals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and strong client management ability
  • Sound knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • A Town Planning degree (or related RTPI-accredited qualification)
  • A full UK driving licence

Experience within consultancy and familiarity with planning issues across Hampshire and the South East would be advantageous.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • RTPI subscription paid
  • Generous annual leave package, including an additional birthday day off
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • High-quality and varied project work
  • Collaborative and supportive working environment
  • Excellent Winchester city centre location close to the station

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing consultancy where your contribution will be recognised and where you will have genuine responsibility and progression opportunities from day one.
