Senior / Principal Planner - Yorkshire

📍 Leeds (Hybrid Working)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior or Principal Planner to join a well-established national planning consultancy in Leeds. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, the successful candidate will work on a wide variety of high-profile developments across the UK.

This role offers exposure to projects across sectors including residential, education, sport and leisure, retail, healthcare, energy, commercial development, and mixed-use regeneration. The consultancy works with a range of major developers, contractors, housebuilders, educational institutions, and sporting organisations nationwide.

The Leeds team has built a strong reputation across Yorkshire and beyond, securing planning permission for major schemes including sports villages, large-scale residential developments, listed school redevelopments, university facilities, and mixed-use projects. Current clients include leading housebuilders, educational providers, and sports organisations.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of planning strategies, prepare and manage planning applications, advise clients on planning matters, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the Leeds office.

Key Requirements

  • RTPI accredited degree (or equivalent relevant qualification)
  • MRTPI qualified or due to submit APC within 6 months
  • Experience across a range of planning sectors
  • Good understanding of the UK planning system
  • Experience preparing, submitting, and managing planning applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive approach

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working on projects within Yorkshire and/or the North West

Both full-time and part-time applicants will be considered. Employees are expected to work from the office a minimum of three days per week, with flexibility to work from home for the remainder.
