About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced RTPI-qualified Planner or Senior Planner to join a leading planning consultancy in Bristol. This role offers the chance to work on a broad range of high-profile and regionally significant projects across the South West.

The successful candidate will become part of a highly respected planning team delivering projects including strategic urban extensions, new settlements, industrial and logistics developments, town centre regeneration, mixed-use schemes, commercial developments, and rural estate portfolios. Clients range from private landowners and institutions to national housebuilders, developers, investors, and commercial operators.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative and supportive environment, gaining exposure to projects from initial concept through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, present, and negotiate planning proposals.
  • Undertake planning research, analysis, and site appraisals.
  • Prepare planning applications, Planning Statements, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with and lead multidisciplinary project teams where appropriate.
  • Promote land through the Local Plan process, including Examination in Public.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, consultees, and stakeholders.
  • Manage projects from inception through to completion.
  • Draft reports, planning strategies, and technical documents.
  • Support senior team members on planning appeals and hearings.
  • Build and maintain strong client and professional relationships.
  • Contribute to business development opportunities and attend networking events.
  • Keep up to date with planning policy, legislation, and market trends.

The Bristol planning team is one of the largest and most established in the South West, offering a wealth of expertise across a variety of sectors and development types. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team environment with strong opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Based in a modern multi-disciplinary office in Bristol, the wider team includes specialists across planning, development, investment, surveying, project management, and property management.

About You

  • RTPI qualified with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in town planning.
  • Strong knowledge of the English planning system.
  • Experience managing projects or handling your own caseload.
  • Commercially aware with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive attitude and client-focused approach.
