Graduate Town Planner

πŸ“ South East England

The Role

We are looking for an ambitious Graduate Planner to join a dynamic and growing planning and architecture consultancy in the South East.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative, design-led practice that combines planning and architecture expertise to deliver high-quality development projects across the UK. You will gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage site appraisals through to planning submissions and post-permission work.

The role offers excellent support towards professional development and RTPI chartership, within a team that actively invests in training and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of planning applications, including supporting documents such as Planning Statements and Design & Access Statements
  • Undertake site appraisals, planning policy reviews, and research to support project strategy
  • Support the coordination of projects through all stages of the planning process, from feasibility through to determination
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and external consultants as part of project delivery
  • Contribute to pre-application enquiries and stakeholder engagement
  • Monitor planning applications and assist in responding to queries from local planning authorities
  • Work collaboratively with in-house architectural teams and external consultants to deliver integrated development solutions

About You

  • Degree (and ideally Masters) in Town Planning or a related discipline
  • Working towards (or keen to work towards) RTPI accreditation
  • Strong interest in the UK planning system and development process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and professional development
  • Some previous experience (placement or internship) in planning or a related field is desirable but not essential

About the Company

You will be joining an award-winning, multidisciplinary consultancy that brings together planners, architects, and technical specialists to deliver successful development outcomes. The team works across a diverse portfolio including residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects, providing advice from initial concept through to planning approval and beyond.

The practice places a strong emphasis on collaboration, professional development, and supporting staff through their qualifications, offering a clear pathway for career progression.

Why Apply?

  • Exposure to a wide variety of projects across planning and design
  • Structured support towards RTPI Chartership
  • Collaborative, supportive team environment
  • Opportunity to work closely with planners, architects, and specialist consultants
  • Clear career progression within a growing consultancy
