Overview
An established and growing planning consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Town Planner to join its Birmingham team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware and motivated planning professional to take on a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of projects while contributing to the continued growth of the business.
The Role
As a Senior Town Planner, you will lead and manage planning projects across a range of sectors including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. You will work closely with clients, local authorities, and internal teams to deliver high-quality planning advice and secure successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing planning applications and appeals from inception through to determination
- Preparing high-quality planning reports, statements, and supporting documentation
- Providing strategic planning advice to clients across a variety of sectors
- Leading client meetings and maintaining strong professional relationships
- Engaging with local authorities, stakeholders, and consultants
- Supporting junior team members through mentoring and technical guidance
- Monitoring changes in planning policy and legislation
Requirements
- Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
- MRTPI qualified (or working towards chartership)
- Significant experience in a planning consultancy or local authority setting
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and policy framework
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Commercial awareness and client-focused approach
