I am working with a Local Authority in the East of England who are seeking an experienced Policy Group Manager / Head of Service for a 6-month interim assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior planning professional with strong leadership and technical expertise to manage a team and take the through the Local Plan
The Role:
As the Area Team Manager, you will:

Manage the local Plan and take local plan to Key Stage One by December 2026 and Gateway by April 2027.

Lead and manage Policy officers, including workload allocation and performance management to ensure service targets are met.

Play a key role in the wider management team, contributing to strategic decision-making and service development.

Present rand provide professional advice at Committee
-
Represent the Council at appeals, hearings and public inquiries, acting as an expert witness when necessary
-
Ensure all decisions and recommendations comply with planning legislation, policy and regulatory requirements

Work closely with Members, internal departments and external stakeholders to support effective service delivery
