Stroud District is one of the most distinctive and inspiring places to plan for. Half the district sits within a National Landscape, with over 3,000 listed buildings and internationally important wildlife sites. If you want to work somewhere where planning truly shapes place, this is it.

We’re looking for a proactive and motivated Development Team Manager to lead our Development Management area teams and Planning Enforcement team. You’ll influence service improvement, develop your leadership style, and help guide planning across a district with exceptional environmental and heritage value.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Chief Planning Officer, you will:

Lead and support Development Management and Enforcement teams
Ensure high‑quality, timely planning decisions
Provide pre‑application advice and contribute to policy/Local Plan work
Work closely with Members, Parish/Town Councils and key stakeholders
Present at Development Control Committee and Sites Inspection Panels
Support planning appeals and customer queries
Deputise for the Chief Planning Officer as needed

Whether you’re an experienced Planning Manager or a Principal Planning Officer ready for your next career step, this is a rare opportunity to move into a key leadership role at a progressive, supportive local authority.
