Town Planner (2+ years’ experience)

Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for a Town Planner to join a collaborative and well-established Planning team based in Lincoln. This role offers the chance to work on a varied portfolio of projects while being supported by an experienced team, with ongoing opportunities for training and professional development.
The ideal candidate will have strong written and communication skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
The Role
You will be involved in all aspects of the planning process, taking responsibility for projects from initial appraisal through to completion, while delivering high-quality advice and solutions to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing planning appraisals for land, buildings, and development proposals
- Undertaking research and analysis to inform planning strategies
- Preparing and managing pre-application enquiries, planning applications, and appeals
- Writing planning and appeal statements
- Assisting in the preparation of Design and Access Statements, sustainability statements, and supporting documents
- Liaising and negotiating with planning officers, consultees, and third parties
- Building and maintaining strong client and professional relationships
- Preparing and delivering presentations, including at Parish Council and Planning Committee meetings
- Producing and negotiating fee proposals
- Developing creative planning solutions to meet client and stakeholder needs
- Writing detailed reports with clear recommendations
- Ensuring compliance with relevant planning legislation and policy
- Managing projects through all stages of the planning process
- Keeping up to date with planning policy, market trends, and legislative changes
About You
- Degree in Town Planning or a related MRTPI-accredited discipline
- Working towards MRTPI (desirable but not essential)
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in the public or private sector
- Commercial awareness and strong communication skills
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
- Willingness to travel as required
